FOR BEST RESULTS:

1. Make sure the surface to be treated is clean and dry. It is best to apply a small inconspicuous test patch to check for aesthetics and coverage rate.
   
   
2. Lifetime™ Water Sealant can be applied with a brush, roller, paint pad, broom, compressed air tank sprayer, airless sprayer or by dipping. With an airless spray use low pressure for all surfaces other than shake shingle roofing, where high pressure is recommended to allow application of product underneath the shingle.
   
   
3. Lifetime™ Water Sealant can be applied to horizontal or vertical surfaces. It is to be applied from the top down on vertical surfaces.
   
   
4. Application of Lifetime™ should cover material completely, but avoid puddling on the surface.
   
   
5. Clean equipment immediately after use with mineral spirits or paint thinner.
   
   
6. If you partially use a container, reseal it immediately and completely.
   
   
7. Lifetime™ Water Sealant must be used as supplied by factory or distributor, without the use of solvents, catalysts or curing agents.

• Apply in a well ventilated area.
• Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
• Avoid breathing of mist or vapor.
• Wash thoroughly after handling.
• Overspray on foliage will damage the plant.

• Lifetime™ Sealant has been found to be chemically compatible with stain or paint only under the following conditions:

  a. PREPARATION:

  In all cases, the wood or surface to be treated must be entirely free from dirt, grease, loose particles, any previously applied sealer or color product, and other debris prior to application of either Lifetime™ or the coloring product. The only known way this can be accomplished is to power wash the substrate with high pressure and hot water and let the substrate dry for a minimum of two days with fair weather — until the substrate appears to be dry and moisture free. Lifetime™ is a penetrating sealant, and therefore any foreign substances present will block the penetration and waterproofing effect of Lifetime™ Sealant.

  b. WOOD AGE:

  When Lifetime™ Sealant is applied to the wood, the wood must be properly seasoned. For most woods this is approximately a minimum of three months after milling, and more like four or more months in the case of redwood. Whether the wood is new or aged, the cleaning identified above is required in either case.

  c. STAIN COMPATIBILITY:

  Lifetime™ Sealant is compatible with mineral spirit (Naphtha) based and water based stain. This can be accomplished in a two step process where the stain is first applied in two coats and the Lifetime™ is applied on top of the stain.

  d. PAINT COMPATIBILITY:

  Lifetime™ Sealant is compatible with high quality oil based paint only. Paint should first be applied in two coats and Lifetime™ applied on top of the paint.

  e. RECOAT PROCEDURE - STAIN:

  Lifetime™ Sealant is compatible with mineral spirit (Naphtha) based stain for recoating purposes. This can be accomplished in a two step process where Lifetime™ Sealant is first applied at full strength. Following Lifetime™ curing, usually 1 to 2 days, the mineral based stain is then mixed with Lifetime™ Sealant so the mixture is approximately 1/3 Lifetime™ and 2/3 stain. Follow the stain manufacturer's application directions on the can. (The mixture is necessary to establish a molecular bonding of the rubber ingredients in the sealant and the stain mixture).

  f. RECOAT PROCEDURE - PAINT:

  Lifetime™ Sealant is compatible with high quality oil based paint. The curing and mixing process for recoating is identical to the stain mixture above, with 1/3 Lifetime™ and 2/3 oil based paint. Follow the paint manufacturer's application guidelines on the can.

  g. LIFETIME™ SEALANT DISCLAIMER:

  Lifetime™ Sealant Products, Inc. specifically disavows any responsibility for any resulting problems, product claims, damages, etc., from mixing Lifetime™ Sealant with another product. Lifetime™ Sealant Products, Inc. will acknowledge responsibility for only the waterproofing properties of the Lifetime™ Sealant. Further, Lifetime™ Sealant Products, Inc. disavows any responsibility for product color life of any mixture made with Lifetime™ Sealant.

  h. INCOMPATIBILITIES AND LIMITATIONS:

  Please note that Lifetime™ Sealant is compatible with only the products identified above. Lifetime™ Sealant is NOT COMPATIBLE with products such as: Pigment, Latex, Paraffin (wax), water, and acrylic based products, as well as varnishes, plastics, enamels, and other non-porous substrates and coatings.

  • Application should not be on a wet or dirty surface.
    
    
  • Application must not be undertaken over refrigerated tanks or areas where a vapor barrier coating is required.
    
    
  • Application must not occur in an interior space where a thermal barrier is required.
    
    
  • Application must be in accordance with manufacturer's Application and Use Guidelines (above).

Since Lifetime™ is a penetrating product, it can only penetrate a porous surface, and then only when the substrate has been properly cleaned as described above. The manufacturing process of Lifetime™ includes addition of both mildewcide and fungicide. However, when Lifetime™ is covered with another product, or mixed with another product, these additives are rendered useless, or at best ineffective. In addition, under these conditions, Lifetime™ may lose some of it's other properties such as flexibility, breathability (allowing moisture vapor to escape the substrate), ultraviolet ray protection, etc. Also, please remember Lifetime™ is an 'air cure' product (high humidity = faster cure), and therefore, once the can is opened the curing process begins. Lifetime™ Sealant Products, Inc.; it's manufacturers; or agents are not responsible for replacement of jelled product resulting from air exposure over any period of time.
